Apex Legends is looking to be a bit of a banger, and that's at least in part a result of developer Respawn's pretty amazing attention to detail.
We've been getting to grips with it over the first few days since its surprise launch and, as it turns out, there's an absolute goldmine of Apex Legends tips, tricks and little known features in there that can make a huge difference to your chances of success. Here's a runthrough of what we've found so far, from basic tips for battle royale newcomers to the advanced and elaborate stuff there's a good chance you'll have missed so far.
CHOOSE WHERE YOU'RE GONNA LAND
If you're not comfortable landing RIGHT in the action, try staying in the drop ship longer and landing on the outskirts of the map. Chances are you'll only land near one or two other squads, and you may have more time to look over loot to really learn what they do
PING INSTEAD OF VOICE CHAT
The Legends (characters) also give great callouts. If someone spots an enemy (but doesn't ping) their character will still call them out, especially if they're being shot at! But be sure to learn how to ping.
The Ping system is extremely useful for conveying information to your team without actually communicating over a microphone. You can quickly ping loot for your teammates, point out an enemy on the battlefield, decline an action, and even indicate that you are going to loot a specific area.
You can also "call dibs" on items that other people ping out (just ping the item that's highlighted by another person). You can cancel all pings by pinging that spot again.
Don't forget the most important ping though: double tap anywhere to mark an enemy.
THERE'S NO FALL DAMAGE
this is another key design decision, that lets you move around incredibly quickly when combined with hopping on and off ziplines, buildings and more.
SLIDE JUMP TO DOGDE BULLET LIKE A BOSS
this is similar to the always-jumping advice of top players in PUBG, Blackout and Fortnite, but the added layer of sliding, which moves you faster than sprinting, makes you really hard to hit. Jump at the end of a slide to continue on at that same sliding speed a little longer through the air, then sprint, slide, repeat!
KNOW YOUR LEGEND
This may seem obvious, but it's incredibly important! In Apex Legends, your character is known as a legend
. Each Legend has a passive, tactical ability, and ultimate ability. There can be no duplicate legends on a squad so take the time to learn each Legend’s abilities so you can form a team with good synergy.

ALWAYS STICK TOGETHER
Squadplay is critical to success in Apex Legends, where you jump into the arena with two teammates at your side. Working together, you can keep each other safe and outplay your opponents by combining your abilities. A well-placed Dimensional Rift by Wraith, for example, can put her team right on top of unsuspecting opponents, while Caustic can protect teammates by using Nox gas to drive away enemies.
Try to strike out on your own, and you'll be up against other teams who can easily overwhelm you. Stick close to your squad, and you’ll have a greater chance at success.
CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON WISELY
Every weapon have it's own benefit, from close range to long range. Every weapon have it's own tier too, higher tier means more deadly the weapon. here's the list of the weapon you can find in apex legend, * means that you can only find the weapon in the drop box.
GET SIMILIAR WITH THE MAP
You can give your teammates critical information – and vice versa – through an in-game system that lets you ping useful items and locations on their screens.
You can pinpoint the position of gear pieces (and what they are), highlight threats, and tell your teammates which direction you’re going before you’ve even plugged in a microphone. Use this to your advantage to make sure your teammates see what you see and always have the latest intel.
EVERY LEGEND HAVE THE SAME SPEED, BUT YOU CAN MOVE FASTER
Keeping your weapon drawn is excellent practice, as you never know when you're going to need it.
However, when trying to escape that ever-shrinking circle or swift escape from battle, it is always important to remember that holstering your weapon will provide a nice little speed boost that could potentially save your life.
To holster your weapon, hold Triangle on PS4, Y on Xbox One, or press 3 on PC.
